Analysis Lab
Q1.
What kind of services do you provide?
A1.
We are dedicated to provide materials and failure
analysis services for the semiconductor, photonic
and electronic industry.
Q2.
What can "X-ray Photoelectron Spectrometer
(XPS)" do?
A2.
The XPS in Product Analysis laboratory can do
materials characterization for metal, semiconductor,
and even non-conducting materials. XPS can provide:
- Elemental
analysis for the surface of your samples (the
topmost 10 nm of your samples),
- Chemical
state information, and
- Materials
analysis for insulating samples
Q3.
What can "Scanning Electron Microscope
(SEM)" do?
A3.
The SEM in Product Analysis Laboratory achieves
magnification of over 100,000X for a variety
of specimens. We can examine the morphology
of integrated circuits (ICs), optoelectronic
devices, and biological specimens. Furthermore,
the microscope is equipped with an Energy Dispersive
X-ray spectrometer (EDX), which measures the
chemical composition of the specimens. SEM/EDX
can provide:
- Surface
morphology of your samples, and
- Elemental
analysis for the bulk of your samples. (The
sampling volume of EDX is 1 um).
Q4.
What can "Scanning Auger Microscopy (SAM)"
do?
A4.
The SAM in Product Analysis Laboratory can provide:
- Surface
morphology of your samples,
-
Elemental
analysis for the surface of your samples
(the topmost 10 nm of your samples), and
-
Elemental
mapping for the surface of your samples
(The spatial resolution of SAM is 5 nm).
Q5.
What can a "confocal microscope" do?
A5.
Confocal microscope is now established as a
valuable tool for obtaining a high resolution
and 3-dimensinal images of integrated circuits
(ICs), optoelectronic devices and biological
specimens. Unlike conventional optical microscope,
the confocal microscope in Product Analysis
Laboratory can eliminate the out-of-focus blur
and obtain 3-dimensinal data from thick specimens.
Thus, the confocal microscope can further provide
in-focus images for the thick specimens.
Q6.
If my company submits a service request for
materials analysis of my sample, when can I
obtain the preliminary result?
A6.
We send the preliminary test result to our clients
within 5 working days.
Q7.
Who should I contact for the service of Product
Analysis Laboratory (PAL)?
A7.
Please contact our professional staff, Ms Gladys
Chiu, by (852) 2629 6683 or by email, gladys.chiu@hkstp.org
Q8.
What is the charging scheme for the service
of Product Analysis Laboratory (PAL)?
A8.
